Nominations for the 2024 MABRA Board of Directorsare now being accepted through December 15, 2023.

Serving on the board is a great way to get involved. You will learn the ins and outs of what goes on behind the scenes to enable bike racing to take place here in the Mid-Atlantic.

The general duties of the board members are to help govern MABRA and promote competitive cycling within MABRA. Additionally, the board selects four of its members to serve as MABRA's officers - President, Vice President, Treasure and Secretary. The general time commitment is between 1-2 hours per week. This includes attending an average of 10 board meetings/volunteer calls, all by teleconference, per year.

Four of the seven MABRA board positions are up for election this year: 2 for re-election and 2 for open nominations. All positions are for 2-year long terms.

Two of the positions up for election represent specific constituencies:

Rider's Representative. This position represents and is voted on by MABRA's general population of USAC license holders (racers, officials, mechanics, race directors, coaches, etc.) Currently Craig Etheridge holds this position as he was appointed by the Board during this year’s term. He is eligible to run for re-election if nominated again.

Women's Representative. This position represents and is voted on by MABRA's female population of USAC license holders (racers, officials, mechanics, race directors, coaches, etc). Currently Alex Forte Howell holds this position, but she will be stepping down at the end of this year so her position is open.

Club Representative. The other two open spots represent MABRA's member clubs. Elections for those two board positions will be held by the MABRA member clubs during the annual meeting on January 7, 2024.

Currently Zachary Quinn holds one of these positions while Drew Wilson holds the other. Zachary is eligible to run for re-election if nominated again, but Drew will be stepping down after this year so his position is open.

In addition, we have one MABRA volunteer position open: Road Coordinator. This is not a Board position. We are looking for someone who can assist with coordinating the MABRA road racing calendar, championships, communication, promotion, and other needs.

If you are interested in a position on the board or a volunteer position, please get in touch with Sunny Gill (President), Alex Forte Howell (Vice-President/Women’s Rep) or one of the other current board members so we can review the qualifications and nomination process with you: president@mabra.org

Deadlines:

The nomination deadline for all four MABRA Board positions is 11:59 pm on Friday, December 15, 2023.

The Annual MABRA Meeting will be held at the Jane E Lawton Community Center on January 7, 2024 @ 1-4pm.
